Guest Dinner & Conversation BUILDING A STRAW-BALE HOUSE IN THE SUBURBS With Nikki McCoy and Bernard Hickey
Wednesday 19 April, 6.30 – 9.00pm
3-course vegan dinner $12
Bondi location advised on registration
Join Nikki and Bernard to hear their story (and see lots of great photos) of building a straw-bale house in the suburbs, on a small block, with a complete edible garden to boot! This is a story of challenge, aesthetics and ethical dilemmas. Always trying to stick to sound environmental values and maintaining a continuous relationship with nature, they are proud of their gesture to mother earth and the bold statement their unique house has made in the neighbourhood.

Who are our dinner guests?
Nikki McCoy is a Designer, Owner/Builder and a Trauma Therapist. She took a year off work to build the house and six month to create the edible garden. Bernard Hickey is a Designer, Owner/Builder and a Psychiatrist. They’ll share with us their trials and triumphs and how they trained a team of conservative apprentice carpenters into sustainable living designers, who now build sustainable houses as a career.
Guest Dinner is an ‘in person’ occasion for up to 8 people.
RSVP by 18 April to [email protected] to reserve your place at our Bondi table. Location will be emailed prior to the event. We look forward to your company.
